As always, Liz Talley writes a fast-paced novel with a cast of real-to-life characters I'd love to have as friends.Rosemary summons all her courage and travels to New York City. There she meets a man, Sal, so out of her league, she doesn't dare dream of him. But, fate is in her favor and soon her life resembles a network melodrama where she can't wait for the next episode. However, before she knows it, she's in over her head, tangled in a relationship she never expected. Need I say, never a dull moment.
This was my first book by Liz Talley and I can say it will not be my last one. This sassy romance just captures your heart. With a mixture of southern charm in the big city you won't want to put it down. Not sure about you , but sometimes with romance novels they can be well pretty predictable so I find myself skimming through parts of it. You certainly will not be skimming this book as you never know what is coming next. It made me sad, it made me smile and a few times laugh right out loud. By the time I was done reading this book, I felt like I really knew the characters and could relate to them. I can't wait to read the next one in the series Perfectly Charming. If you are looking for a light hearted summer read snatch up Charmingly Yours.
Sweet story of a small town Mississippi girl visiting NYC for the first time. She meets an Italian pizza maker and they fall for each other in what is supposed to be a two week fling. I enjoyed my time with these two "shouldn't fit but do" lovers. Great main characters and just the right amount of angst for a romance that shouldn't work in a million years. Side character of a totally over protective mother about drove me crazy before it was over with. Heroine was college educated and owned her own business, her mom needed to butt out! Sweet, but definitely an adult read.
The lives of both Rosemary, from Mississippi, and Sal, from New York City, are controlled by their families, mostly their mothers. Rosemary always plays it safe. Her late friend Lacy gave Rosemary a letter encouraging her to spread her wings. Using Lacy's money and her cousin's NYC apartment, Rosemary spends 2 weeks in NYC. She runs into Sal at his family's restaurant. His family wants him to marry a specific girl and open a deli. While Sal may appear more worldly than Rosemary, both are suffocated by family expectations. The engaging story follows the risk taking behavior of both Rosemary and Sal as both assert themselves and free themselves from family expectations. Loved the book!!
I loved this book! Rosemary and Sal were wonderful. Rosemary had enough southern sass to make things fun for Sal. Both characters were struggling with things that made sense, but grew through the book, using things they found/noticed in the other to reflect on their own situation. I know I would act just like Rosemary did when she first got to NYC, I can only hope I'd adjust as well as she did. Sal needed to figure out what he wanted, and I liked that once he did that, he went for it. Overall, I didn't want to the story to end, even though I did so I could read the happily ever after! I will definitely be putting the second book of the series on my to read list.I received this book for free as part of Goodreads Giveaways.
This is the perfect book to kick off your summer reading. It reminded me of my favorite movie romantic comedies. Funny, sweet, and very engaging. Be prepared to read it in one sitting because you won't want to put it down! Sal and Rosemary are stuck in their own ruts, and must learn from each other, and from their feelings for each other, how to get unstuck. Liz Talley conveys the charm of New York City and Little Italy in particular, in concise and evocative description. The secondary characters are very compelling, but of course it's Sal and Rosemary we're cheering for, hoping they'll overcome their self-doubt and find their happy ending. Highly recommended!
I loved this story from the very first page, it was exceptional.The characters we so well written and the story drew me in and the romance sizzles between the two main characters. I can hardly wait to read more in this series, and I highly recommend you read these stories in order so you get to know the characters from the beginning.Definitely a five-star rating for this story and author.
CHARMINGLY YOURS is a refreshing, contemporary romance which held my interest from beginning to end. I was drawn to both Sal and Rosemary seeing many resemblances to my own life's journey. Their struggles were real, believable and very emotional. No one rooted harder for them than I!CHARMINGLY YOURS is the first Liz Talley book I have read, and I am very impressed with her writing and her magnificent characters.
