To say Nico and Landon got off to a rocky start would be a huge understatement. Nico pushed Landon's buttons from the beginning of the wild goose chase to the end and discovered that they had a lot in common. Nico's hot temper got him in trouble that Landon was almost too late to get him out of. I laughed at how Finn sexually blackmailed Houston into helping his friend. Now if only Noah were freed from his past demons too.'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fifth book in the Worth It series. In this book, Nico wants to get his uncle released from prison after he was wrongfully convicted of murder. When Nico gets a letter from a witness of the crime saying his uncle wasn't there and they saw the real killer, he tries to talk to the police officer who investigated the crime. Landon Case is a cop who was former military and he investigated the murder. When Landon's friend told him to talk to Nico as a favor, He agreed. Nico met with Landon to show him the letter, but Landon wasn't convinced it was enough to help get his uncle out. When Nico begged Landon to help, he still refused and when Nico said he was going regardless, Landon decided to track down who he thought was the witness. Nico and Landon set out on a roadtrip to find answers, but things didn't work out as they hoped. There is an attraction between Nico and Landon, but Landon won't act on things. The more they investigate, the more things get complicated between Nico and Landon. Landon is a dominate male and Nico finds himself wanting to do anything Landon tells him to and Landon finds himself wanting to make Nico behave. Soon Landon wants to help Nico and starts to look for even more leads and more evidence to help his uncle. I really liked this book. I liked Nico and thought he was very loyal and wanted to do anything to help his uncle. Landon understood because of his own family and he found he liked Nico more than he thought he would. I think they were great together and i think they had great chemistry. Another great one from this series.
Nico receives a vague letter and believes it exonerates his uncle, which will ultimately lead to his release from jail. Landon is a deputy sheriff who has knowledge of the case, and Nico needs his help. Nico was unlikable to me as he was cocky and arrogant, he enlisted the help of their common friends (Houston and Finn) to manipulate Landon to help him. Additionally, Nico is a criminal justice major who stalks, harasses and assaults Landon in the name of justice for his uncle. I mean come on when would this ever be deemed as acceptable behavior. I also didn't like how Nico expected Landon to put his entire career on the line to help him, with no real evidence that the case should be reopened. Honestly, Nico ruined the book for me as he seemed ungrateful, arrogant, spoiled, entitled, cocky, and just plain rude. Any other person in law enforcement would have thrown his butt in jail, for his over the top illegal behavior. I also didn't like how random Spanish words were thrown in the dialogue. I speak Spanish but for the readers that don't how are they to know what "cabron" means.I think the book had potential but the author missed the mark. It seemed rushed and the law enforcement portion was far fetched to say the least.
a different take on an alleged miscarriage of justice.Nico had an uncle who was accused of a murder that he said he did not commit. a vague witness said he saw a dark skinned man mid forties in an alley a few hours after the murder, who might have matched Tio Suarez.When Nico gets a letter written by an alleged witness, he gets excited, thinking maybe there is a chance for his uncle.But the letter is vague and unsigned.A friend of a friend agrees to look into things for him.But in Case, maybe Nico has found an older man who is more than a friend. An officer who tells him presenting the evidence to the lawyers and the jury is his job, not guilt or innocence.Maybe with Case, Nico can find some info to help his uncle, and some insight to help his own legal studies.And maybe he has found someone who can help his heart - if they both take the chance on love.m/m romance with cop / lawyer / law student twists.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Nico wants his Tio out of jail. committed for a crime he didn't commit, he has been in jail now for three years. Getting fresh evidence, Nico goes to the one man he thinks might help him, Case, the very man who put his Tio in jail to begin with. Coercement, anger, threats and blackmail is used by Nico to get Case to go along with him to search out the evidence. Case is reluctant to open this kettle of worms as it will probably destroy his career he has charted for himself in the sheriffs department, but help he does. I wasn't overly impressed with either of the main characters as Case was a jerk most of the time and Nico acts like a punk most of the time. the love is not sweet or gentle with strong D/s elements that I never thought was sexy. The story however was entertaining despite my dislikes and I would certainly recommend it to others to read. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book
