When the new features of iOS 10 were first announced, I couldn't wait for Apple to release it. I downloaded it on the first day that it was available and I wanted to make sure that I was really taking advantage of it. I am very satisfied with this book.The first chapter in the book lists all of the new major features. For each feature that is simple to explain, the book explains how to use it right in the "What's New" chapter. For more complicated new features, there's a link to the section in the book where the feature is described. Very useful indeed.I also found the easy navigation particularly useful. The book contains a concise table of contents of all chapters, an index, as well as a comprehensive table of contents made up of all sections in the book. I was able to find exactly what I needed with great ease.
This is the fifth Help Me guide that I have bought and I'm a big fan. Back when I purchased the iPhone 5, I first discovered these guides. They are always very easy to peruse and make for an excellent reference.What I have enjoyed the most in the Help Me guides is that the author constantly builds upon each book in the series. With every iteration of the iPhone and iPad, I have noticed more and more comprehensive content. I especially enjoy seeing what new Tips and Tricks come with each device's or system's iteration. I look forward to reading a Help Me book on the iPhone 7.
I've grown up with Apple products since the original Macintosh, so I have never needed these books. However, when my wife and her mother decided to finally join the 21st century, I ordered this book and another one to help them jump into the deep end of pool. Realize this book is more about the changes in iOS 10, and it is for both the iPhone and the iPad. Because of that, the in-depth, detailed functionality of the iPhone is a bit simplified. For that level of support, I ordered the Learn Visually book. I do believe that users who have been in the Apple world for some time will find this too simplistic, but for someone new to the iPhone or iPad, it is a pretty good support tool.
Would prefer a section that just gives enhancements from the previous version. I expected more of the undocumented features, too!
Marginal utility. OK for beginners, but I was hoping for some more in-depth information.
