From the Back Cover
"Reading -- or better said ingesting -- this collection of earnest, discerning, and often plaintive offerings is a balm to the soul and a buoy to the heart. It reconnects me -- on a visceral level -- to the warm-hearted sense of belongingness found in the best moments of a faith community."--Kendall Wilcox, Producer and Editor at OUT in ZION podcast"By weaving together two traditional aspects of Mormon women's history--poetry and blessings--this book ties a modern community of Mormon feminists to the earliest sister-saints. The authors unapologetically claim their spiritual power and their link to the divine feminine, creating a space for those who may not always feel welcome in their faith. Taken as a whole, "We Hold Your Name" stands as a marker of the myriad ways women heal one another."-- Margaret Olsen Hemming, Editor of Exponent II Magazine

Order this book. Really though! It’s currently number #1 new release in Mormonism on Amazon and it is FULL of inspiration from amazing women. I read it cover to cover via Kindle last night and it left me with tears of peace. Our feminist Mormon sisters stand as women who are beacons of strength, fortitude, empathy, and insight. Many of us have felt the sting of shunning, the heartbreak of being misunderstood, and have been either informally or formally exiled from our community. This book is for you.
Experienced authors and first-time poets form this collective of women's voices that encircle the outcast and make our community tent bigger. Voices of queer and straight, women of color and white, identifying as LDS and never having been LDS, in the U.S. and without, there is room enough for all who have ever felt misunderstood by their church home to find healing, humor, and empathy in these words. A beautiful project of love.
I loved participating in this amazing project, led by two women that I admire and love: Kalani Tonga and Joanna Brooks. Both are leaders in the community of women that compose the Mormon Feminist movement that has successfully both enlightened and "moved the needle" for greater equality for women. Gina Colvin (to whom the book is written for and dedicated to) considers herself a "womanist." So, to all my sister womanists who have published words on the pages of this book, I say simply, "brava!"
This book arrived the day I had to speak at a sentencing hearing. It was the perfect balm for my soul after such a difficult day. I stayed up many hours later than I had planned because I could not stop reading all of the powerful words from my friends. Thanks so much, Kalani and Joanna, for birthing this.
What a beautiful collection of love and anger and peace and power this book is.
Words and love for people who feel pushed out or alone. Buy a copy for your heart, and three copies for the hearts of three people you love who will need it.
